EMPCo/AMFO Wins 2023 API Distinguished Pipeline Safety Award, Second Year in a Row
EMPCo/AMFO has been selected as the winner of the API Distinguished Pipeline Safety Award for the second year in a row. This prestigious award recognizes the safest two-year period in EMPCo/AMFO history. Winners are selected by a vote of industry peers after a comprehensive review of their safety record, proactive initiatives to advance pipeline safety and overall industry performance.
EMPCo President Steve Yatauro accepted the 2023 API Distinguished Pipeline Safety Award during a ceremony attended by the Pipeline and Hazardous Materials Administration (PHMSA) and industry peers on May 6 at the annual API Pipeline Conference and Expo in Salt Lake City, UT.
Yatauro said, “Our entire organization contributed to our repeat performance as an industry safety stand out and I am so proud to see our organization receive such well-deserved, industry-wide recognition of the safest two-year period in EMPCo/AMFO history.”
The safety excellence recognized by this award is the result of EMPCo/AMFO’s unmatched leadership commitment and employee alignment on our safety culture, risk management, integrity improvements and our industry-leading approach to sharing lessons learned, establishing rigorous standards and pioneering training related to CO2 and H2 pipelines – all essential in the safe buildout and operations of emerging fuels pipelines and storage facilities.
API President and CEO Mike Sommers said, “Pipelines serve as the safest way to move large quantities of oil and natural gas from where they are produced to where they are needed. [This year’s] winners represent our industry culture: ‘Safety first, safety always.’ Oil and natural gas will be needed throughout the world for decades to come. We want it to come from America with abundant resources, modern infrastructure, and the best workforce in the world. Lawmakers and pipeline opponents must know that restrictions on oil and natural gas development weaken America – our economy, security and environmental progress."
