Federal pipeline safety regulations include requirements for operators of certain pipelines to develop and implement comprehensive integrity management programs.
ExxonMobil Pipeline Company’s robust Integrity Management Program (IMP) is an important tool that supports our compliance with applicable federal and state regulations. The primary objectives of the IMP include providing a structure for performing integrity assessments; integrating data from multiple sources; making repairs; identifying, prioritizing and managing risk; and implementing preventive and mitigative actions.
Our Integrity Management Program:
- Utilizes state-of-the-art inspection methods to support the integrity of ExxonMobil Pipeline Company systems;
- Evolves continuously to allow for the adoption of new technologies and industry-leading practices;
- Undergoes regular review by the U.S. Department of Transportation’s Pipeline and Hazardous Materials Safety Administration (PHMSA) and company professionals; and
- Supports and complements customized integrity and maintenance strategies for individual assets to account for differences in their history, operating context and environment.
Many of the highly trained professionals who oversee the IMP are leaders in their respective fields and often serve on industry committees tasked with improving pipeline operating standards. We devote substantial resources to maintain the program, employ experts and invest in the research and deployment of advanced technology to continuously improve our performance.
